Hi I am Corliss and I am a self-proclaimed Multicrafter! I don’t believe that is a word; it’s actually a tool. As you have probably guessed, I luv-luv crochet. However throughout the years I have enjoyed knitting, jewelry making, and scrapbooking to name a few and I’m a keen organizer; throw in a touch of fashion and that equals a Multicrafter!
While the majority of my career has been in Silicon Valley (N. Cali), working on corporate projects for large companies, I have always embraced my crafty-creative side. I am a West Coast girl raised in California and in recent years moved to the state of Arizona. I live with my handsome husband Bobby and a very cool Jack Russell named Bailey. We are proud Parents, Grandparents, God-Parents which means we have a great family. Bobby and I make a great mix as he adds his engineering brain to my creative; yes he is great with measurements, structural details and builds a mean diaper cake!
I did the math and turns out I have crafted for over 40 years. Yikes! As my favorite, Crochet brings fond memories of doilies decorating our house in the 60s and crafting with my mother, as it was she that first taught me how to crochet. It wasn’t until recent that my sister shared with me that my mother actually made the doilies. I then ventured into knitting as a tween and my mother and I took a class; which resulted in one very large slipper. In my teens a family friend taught me how to macramé and I tried my hand at sewing as well, with the vision of creating a full wardrobe (never happened).
Fast forward to today….. I have revisited macramé making Shamballa bracelets, created large chunky cowls with arm knitting, tried my hand at Amigurumi and the infamous Virus Shawl. I even discovered making crochet projects with t-shirt yarn.
My son Kennelle, insists on an annual pair of knitted socks (can you say five double-pointed needles anyone). I love the variety of crafting trends, yet I will always honor crochet, as there is something about the symmetrical magic of an afghan square or the intricacy of a doily.
So why this blog? I want to do what I love, share it and hopefully inspire someone along the way. Join me and let’s ….Enjoy the ride!
